MultiLink Trunking MLT is a point-to-point connection that aggregates multiple ports to logically act like a single port, with the aggregated bandwidth. Grouping multiple ports into a logical link provides a higher aggregate on a switch-to-switch or switch-to-server application. DMLT allows you to aggregate similar ports from different modules. Nortel recommends always using DMLT when possible.

To include ports as trunk group members of an MLT, you must statically configure the ports. SLT is best suited for large-scale deployments of edge switches from a single switch cluster. Share this: Twitter Facebook. Like this: Like Loading Previous Post Why two addresses?

Avaya Split MultiLink Trunking (SMLT) Layer 2 Trunking

Multi-link trunking MLT is a link aggregation technology developed at Nortel in It allows grouping several physical Ethernet links into one logical Ethernet link to provide fault-tolerance and high-speed links between routers, switches, and servers. Using this technology allows or enables the use of several links from 2 up to 8 and combined them to create increased bandwidth and several fail-over paths. This produces server to switch or switch to switch connections that are up to 8 times faster. Fault-tolerant design is an important aspect of Multi-Link Trunking technology.
