It is the direct modeling application of a suite of 10 that provide collaborative solid modeling , assembly modeling , 2D orthographic views , finite element analysis , parametric modeling , sub-divisional and NURBS surface modeling , direct drafting , and NC and tooling functionality for mechanical designers. This design approach is used by companies whose product strategy is family-based or platform-driven, where a prescriptive design strategy is fundamental to the success of the design process by embedding engineering constraints and relationships to quickly optimize the design, or where the resulting geometry may be complex or based upon equations. Creo Elements provides a complete set of design, analysis and manufacturing capabilities on one, integral, scalable platform. Creo Elements can be used to create a complete 3D digital model of manufactured goods. The models consist of 2D and 3D solid model data which can also be used downstream in finite element analysis , rapid prototyping , tooling design, and CNC manufacturing.

This week I discuss the improvements to 3D annotations. These feature improvements are available in the base license of Creo Parametric. There is no need to buy additional extensions or applications to take advantage of them. While the default annotation planes are already identified, have the ability to edit them. Users can also easily navigate to the view of the active annotation plane. Having all of these tools in one place makes managing your annotations much faster and easier.
As you create additional combined states, they will be automatically added to a tab in the bottom of the graphics window. If changes are made to the model orientation or layer state for instance they will be updated in the combination state.
This tool automatically chooses an appropriate annotation plane, which is a big time saver as the user no longer needs to manually choose the annotation plane. Annotations are also assigned to the active combination state, which also saves time as the user no longer needs to manage annotation visibility with layers.
Other improvements include the ability to control the cosmetic appearance of annotations on models and dynamic repositioning of dimensions in 3D drawings. Improved 3D annotations are just one of the many reasons to make a move to the latest release of Creo. Mark Brunelli. Written By: Mark Brunelli.
